We celebrated Yu’s bday today!! We started the day opening his presents. Later, Luca and myself met up with him for a nice lunch in the West Village. At night, Michelle gave Yu (and myself) one of the best presents; babysitting Luca for couple of hours so that he and I could go out for dinner at Lucien (our favorite French bistro in the neighborhood:)

Luca started a new semester of his Japanese playdate/class but now in the 2-3yr old level. In this new class, they do crafts, games, singing, hand songs, storytime, snacks and of course play time:) He happens to be one of the youngest one but happily most of his classmate were with him in the Yoshi Yoshi class that we took last year, so both him and I feel very comfortable with them:)
To celebrate Valentines Day, the kids painted a heart for mommy. As a first time mom, I was soooo excited watching him doing his art craft and acting like a little boy at school. For me, he was just so cute and adorable. Plus I think this class will be a good preparation for him for this coming fall when he will start preschool; yes, he got “accepted” we got the confirmation yesterday (crazy nyc!!)

So the “not so” little one has turned TWO!! Cannot believe how time flies! It seems like yesterday when Yu and I (with mama Pati’s help) were trying to figure out how to change him, feed him, bath him, etc. And next thing we know, Luca is now telling us with a very decisive “NO” when he doesn’t want or doesn’t feel like doing something; it’s just amazing seeing this little person evolve right in front your eyes!
On his special day, he was very lucky to be surrounded by people who loves him (including a surprise weekend visit of papa Memo and Christian) and to have best wishes, hugs, kisses and presents from Japan, Mexico, Boston and Sweden! Along with his friend Pocoyo, we invited over couple of his little friends for a playdate/party which turned out to be lots of fun for him and for us a great way to get to know the papas of the little ones (usually we are only moms hanging out together:) Then later in the evening we had another “happy birthday” round with Karla and mama Koito joining us on skype along with a traditional “mordida” (bite) of the cake. Luca ended up his day opening all the great presents he got. By the way, Luca loves it when we sing happy birthday to him, specially in Spanish, and he loves wearing the cake hat that of course Michelle (who else, right?!) got him!
LUCA, thanks for giving us so much love, happiness, pain and tiredness but above all for making life interesting and making us want to be better people everyday. Love you lots, papa + mama

His b-day celebration started two weeks ago while we were still in Mexico. Our “Tiger” had a birthday party so he could celebrate with bunch of his cousins and family:) He was excited to be next to his friends the lion and giraffe and very happy to say hi to his friend the elephant (aka piñata) Unfortunately by the time it came to blow up the candle on the cake, he was so tired and sleepy that he refuse to do it .. but overall it seemed that he enjoyed it specially opening the presents the next day and showing Bernardo how to eat left over snacks:)

Before leaving to Mexico to spend Christmas and New Year’s (plus 3 extra weeks!!), Luca spent his last days in the playgrounds saying goodbye to friends and wishing them happy holidays:) He also got to open some Christmas presents ahead of time given to him by our friends and neighbors; thank you Caleb, Charles, Patricia and Evan for the great presents, he is indeed a lucky boy!!
Luca seems to have a Latin taste for music but Japanese rhythm.
